Your child doesn't have a maths problem. They have a Class 5 gap.

A child who cannot divide fractions in Class 6 usually understood nothing wrong about dividing fractions. Something two or three years earlier never finished closing. Heyoku finds which one.

Why marks don't tell you this

A test score tells you whether the answer was right. It does not tell you whether your child understood the question or matched it to a pattern they had seen before. Those two children get the same mark in Class 6 and diverge completely by Class 9, when the patterns stop repeating.

We look at reasoning instead. What the child wrote in the margin. Which step they could not explain. The specific wrong answer they gave, because wrong answers are far more informative than right ones.

Start with the topic that is going wrong

Every topic in school maths sits on top of three or four earlier ones. When a child struggles, the break is almost never where it looks. These pages tell you what a topic actually requires, and how to check in five minutes whether your child has it.

Browse topics by class — or read the notes, where we write up what we find.

What Heyoku is

Heyoku is built by Instil AI. We sit with children, we watch how they think, and we log every misconception we find. That log is what these pages are written from. Here is how the process works.
